Jan 23, 2018 - My Passport is a series of portable external hard drives produced by Western Digital. Fix: WD My Passport Ultra not detected. The cable may be faulty or the device drivers may not be installed correctly.

1. Is this issue specific to this external hard drive or any other external device when you connect it through the USB?

2) Does the external hard drive work on any other computer?
3) Have you tried using other USB ports?
Try the below methods and check.
Method 1: Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
I suggest you to run hardware and devices troubleshooter and check.
- Press the Windows + X, and click on Search.
- Type troubleshooting and select Troubleshooting.
- Click on Hardware and Sound and select Hardware and Devices and click on Next to run the troubleshooter
Method 2: Assign a drive letter and check
- Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- In the left pane, click Disk Management.
- Right-click the drive that you want to change, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
- To assign a drive letter if one has not already been assigned, click Add, click the letter that you want to use, and then click OK.
Method 3: Uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers
Step 1: Uninstall current USB driver
a) Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard.
b) Click on Device Manager from that list.
c) Search for the USB driver from the device list, right click on it and then select
Uninstall.
d) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.
Step 2: Install the latest USB driver from the manufacturer website.
